Session 2 – Nerve entrapments and diabetes

Professor Lars B. Dahlin is a Senior Consultant in Hand Surgery at Skåne University Hospital since 1999 and a Professor at Lund University since 2009. He is the Head of the Department of Translational Medicine and Clinical Director of the Wallenberg Center for Molecular Medicine at Lund University. He graduated from the University of Göteborg Medical School in 1982, where he also taught Anatomy until 1986 and defended his thesis the same year. He trained in Hand Surgery in Malmö from 1988 to 1993. Dahlin has been an external lecturer in Clinical Anatomy at Copenhagen University’s Panum Institute (2005-2013) and a Supervisor in Hand Surgical Anatomy wetlab courses since 2000. He has over 370 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and reviews.

His presentations will be on these topics:

> “Nerve entrapments and diabetes” The surgical aspect and a neurobiological understanding when we deal about nerve entrapments. What should we focus on concerning symptoms and disability before and after surgery.

> “Nerve injuries – from the diagnosis and surgery to a successful rehabilitation”.

> Some points about diagnosis and surgery, highlighting postoperative remaining symptoms and disabilities (touching CRPS) during the rehabilitation phase.
